One girl nitpicks the hair and fashion world.

Moda Provocateur

Every year the company I work for participates in an exciting event to raise funds for The Southern Arizona Aids Foundation, also referred to as SAAF. The event is called Moda Provocateur. It is a huge hair and fashion show that is put on by multiple hair salons from southern Arizona. We all come together to create one major night of talent and raise awareness for a disease that affects so many. Moda Provocateur has been in existence for 12 years. This year we had 8 salons participate, 350 stylists and models all together. With an audience of over 950, we raised over $88,000 for SAAF!! It is a great feeling being able to use my talent to help so many other people.

This was my first year directing our segment. Each salon gets 8 minutes to show what they’ve got. It is not a competition between the salons, however everyone definitely pulls out all the stops every year. Directing the show took a lot of time and energy, and I couldn’t be more proud to work with such talented stylists. We did a wig segment inspired by a look Anthony Mascolo and the TIGI Creative Team created years ago. We used colored hair sprays and stencils to make designs on the outside of white bobs. We used texture or crimping irons on some to make a nice fuzzy effect on some hair up looks. The team also used plaits or braids on some of the models. We finished the show with 5 avant garde looks.

We can’t wait for next year’s Moda show. For more information on how you can get involved with SAAF go to www.saaf.org
